US farming - top states by sorghum production
Description
Sorghum is the fifth largest grain produced in the US with sales totaling $1.6 billion. It is mainly used in the US as animal fodder, production of alcoholic beverages and bio-fuels. In recent years, it is also being used as a source of gluten-free food.
Top states producing sorghum include Kansas at $772 million, Texas at $486 million and Oklahoma at $70 million.
